Students will be involved in several projects during the course

of the program year.  These projects include:

 

World Service-Boxes to Africa                                                

$5,500.00

Every year our program youth design a box that tells a story about him or herself. They are asked to put a message in the box for a child in Africa who will receive it.  Each box also is then filled with school supplies. The three villages that receive our annual gifts are Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria. 

 

Community Service-Helping Our Neighbors                                                                 

$2,000.00

During the holiday season each student gives a gift and a blanket to needy populations: homeless shelters, a “Children of Inmates” program and the Center for Victims of Domestic Violence. 

 

GOTV – Get Out To Vote                                                                              

$1,500.00

This is a non-partisan effort developed to teach youth the importance of the registration and voting process.

 

Stool of Peace Exhibit                                                                          

$10,000.00

Each student is presented a plain wooden stool. They are then given the task of creating a design that relates to the theme of “Let it Rise, Peace, Prosperity and Purpose”. The stools, once completed, will then be exhibited at two art galleries: one in Niagara Falls and one in Buffalo.  The stools will be on exhibit for three weeks during the designated Black History Month of February. A reception will follow the presentation of the stool creations and program artists.  The media will be invited as well as prominent business and political representatives of the area.  The stools will be available for auction in March with all proceeds being donated to the Buffalo Niagara Mentorship Program, Inc.
